Alan M. Berne, D.D.S., P.A.

     Growing up in Bethesda, MD, Dr. Berne decided he would stay close to his native roots so he attended George Washington University during the turbulent 60’s.  After graduating with a B.S. in Zoology, he had to decide whether to live on a “commune” the rest of his life or do the responsible thing and attend professional school. So he took the long trip to Baltimore and went to the University of Maryland Dental School and graduated in 1974.  After a residency in Anesthesia and General Dentistry at Baltimore City Hospitals, he worked as an associate to a dental practice for a short period of time before opening his own practice. So on September 1, 1975, this practice opened with no patients but high hopes and aspirations and remained in the Long Reach Shopping Center until the mid 80’s.  At that time, we moved to the present location in Dobbin Center.

     Both of Dr. Berne’s children, Philip and Amanda, grew up in Columbia, attended Howard High School, and then went off to seek fame and fortune in other states.  Dr. Berne currently lives in Ellicott City with his wife of 35 years, Margie, and has no plans for early retirement but hopes to spend as much free time as possible with his delightful grandson, Noah David.  Pictures always available, upon request.

     On his future horizons, he hopes to continue his interests in travel, scuba diving, and golf, but he will remain focused on continuing to serve his patients and his community to his fullest.
